Third Grade Integrated Curriculum Plan

Before the beginning of the year, and again before each term, the third grade team met to align our curriculum across subject areas. All third grade teachers attended, plus the specialists of classes such as music and art. In the meeting, we decided on a “big idea” for the term and brainstormed how to relate and integrate the standards and units we would be teaching that term. You can see that we started with a web to brainstorm and connect our ideas, then turned that web into a subject-based outline, and from there decided when we would teach each topic and put it on a term-long calendar.
